Lock Down Battle Night 2012

The real deal is here! LOCK DOWN BATTLE NIGHT 2012! With our Locking OG, Scoo B Doo, judging for the event! It was a great day, with fierce battles, and fierce fight between competitors during the "Infinite-Lock Marathon" and "Alpha Marathon" competition!

No words can describe how great the whole event was! I will let some of my pictures do the talking! ^^ Great job to all competitors! And the winner for Lock Down Battle Night 2012 is...... Drum roll.... .... The Champion is FONG!!!! Congratulations!!!

And the event ended with the traditional Soul Train, with all dancers queuing up in 2 rows, taking turns to dance down the row between them in pairs! Really a great night of dance, music, fun, battles and friendship!

Locking Conference with OG Scoo B Doo

It was right after Lock Down Battle Night 2012 Warm Up Party, we had a conference with The First Locker, Jimmy Foster "Scoo B Doo" from California, who will be judging for Lock Down Battle Night 2012!

He came down to Singapore to be the judge for the event, to share with us the history of Locking and his experience and views about Locking. He will also be giving MasterClass to a group of lucky Lockers as part of his project in teaching workshops all over the world!

He shared with us how Locking came about, how he came into contact with Locking, learning from the creator of Locking, Don "Campbellock" Campbell, during the 1960s-1970s. He has also shared with us how Locking has evolved from the past, how different it is in different countries, how dancers should improve on their Locking, how the Locking moves he created came about, and how his name "Scoo B Doo" came about. He is already into his 60s and he is still so fit and still able to dance so well! He is definitely a role model and a motivator to us young dancers to continue to dance and to strive for better dance skills and results!

It was a really enriching interaction between Scoo B Doo and the Lockers and dancers who came down for the conference and definitely, we have learnt a lot from him, the most experienced Locker in the world!

Thank you very much Jimmy Foster "Scoo B Doo" for coming all the way to Singapore to share, to teach and to judge our event! Really great talking to you, learning from you and seeing you!

Lock Down Battle Night 2012 Warm Up Party

Had the chance to be the photographer for a Street Dance Competition, Lock Down Battle Night 2012 Warm Up Party, which is held 2 days before the real competition, Lock Down Battle Night 2012.

It was a fun and great battle, put up by our very own Lockers! Although the place had constraints for myself to take pictures of the battles, I tried my best to take them, and selected some of them to be processed.
